God has you covered!

A missionary in the New Hebrides Islands, described his experience with God’s divine angelic protection. Hostile natives surrounded his mission headquarters one night, desiring to kill him and his wife and burn the place down. All through that terror filled night, they prayed that God would deliver them from this evil. When daylight came they were amazed to see the natives leave, looking frustrated.

Call the Exterminator!

luke 10 ttread on serpents scorpions worthy christian devotions

Since our move to the Negev Desert in Israel, we’ve had the privilege of meeting many fascinating and somewhat disturbing desert species, some of which have unfortunately had to meet the exterminator. One of these is the scorpion. Scorpions are commonplace here. They can often even be found in the house and they aren’t easy to kill. These little creatures have a knack for survival. I have even read that scorpions have survived nuclear weapon testing! But what’s more interesting is their method of devouring prey.

Know You’re Led and Protected!

As most of you know, this past week the conflict in Israel has escalated. The IDF has termed Israelā€™s military operation, ā€œamood ananā€, which in literal Hebrew, means, ā€œpillar of cloudā€. The term is a direct reference from the Exodus of Israel from Egypt when they were led out of slavery and protected by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.[Exodus 13:21]. The pillar both led (directed and guided) and protected the children of Israel from the Egyptian armyā€¦providing both leadership and protection.

Fight it!

For the past few days our family has been fighting off various viruses, and Iā€™m hoping weā€™re finally coming to the end of this bout of sickness. But it’s causing me to reflect on the amazing way God has designed our bodies to combat these germs, with an immune system that can eliminate any intruder as soon as it penetrates.
