1 Corinthians 12:14-18 For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
Some of us like to lead. We like to be the ones to teach. We like to be the ones to lay down the law and believe we were born for it.
The fact is that no one is born to lead. You may have heard it said that leaders aren’t born, they’re made — through many trials and testing, through much time and lot’s of experience. That is probably why Paul specifies that some will be pastors…etc.
Think of it this way. Picture a body, but maimed — no arms or legs. With a neck … and several heads. Ewww. Not a pretty picture, is it? But that is what the body of believers would look like if we all tried to be the head. We couldn’t move forward – no legs! Couldn’t lend a helping hand – no hands!
We each have an equally important part in the body. Let’s seek the Lord about what exactly is ours. There’s so much work to be done!
