Matthew 8:26-27 But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
Whew! What must the disciples have felt back then as they saw the waves crashing against their boat? They were being swayed from side to side in the deep dark sea. They were afraid for their lives! But our Lord was there all along. He just wanted them to trust.
So often we find ourselves in that same boat, don’t we? “Lord, are you there?! Don’t you see these waves about to consume me?!
But He does! He sees all, hears all, knows all. He is the same Lord that calmed that storm two thousand years ago and He can cause the winds and the seas to cease, and the trials of our lives to become calm in an instant!
Find your “shalom” in the midst of your storm … for it’s in these storms we learn of God’s faithfulness and when He displays His awesome power. Let’s renew our trust in the Lord today — for God has great plans for those who will put their trust in Him.
For me there is a different between passive faith and active faith. For example when as is well it’s easy to believe, when we have to actually believe and hold on to our faith when times are difficult that’s when faith becomes active, a anchor, a catalyst, an inner peace during turmoil. Faith move us forward from just talking the talk to walking the walk.
Excellent devotionals. Thanks for writing them.
