Isaiah 33:2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
During the building of the Golden Gate Bridge over San Francisco Bay, construction fell badly behind schedule because several workers had accidentally fallen from the scaffolding to their deaths. Engineers and administrators could find no solution to the costly delays. Finally, someone suggested a gigantic net be hung under the bridge to catch any who fell. Finally, in spite of the enormous cost, the engineers opted for the net. After it was installed, progress was hardly interrupted. A worker or two fell into the net but were saved. Ultimately, all the time lost to fear was regained by replacing fear with faith in the net.
Do you have a fear of falling or failing? The Lord is always right there to be our net — to catch us when we fall. He is our salvation in time of trouble and provides the perfect safety net in Messiah!
Spend the weekend resting in Him and His finished work completed 2000 years ago. Shabbat Shalom and continue to press on full steam ahead!
This may sound like a strange thing to say but I do not think a day goes by I am not aware and thankful for that “net of salvation”..
No matter what happens or how I trip up or what a foolish misstep I may take..and I do it often..(Thats probably why its always on my mind.)
That assurance is right there and I so rejoice in it..
Thank You Father… \o/
ISAIAH 35:3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
Say to them that are of a FEARFUL HEART, BE STRONG, FEAR NOT: your God will come with vengeance, even God witha recompence; he will come and save you.
I like the thought, I really do, but your facts are wrong. The Golden Gate Bridge finished ahead of schedule. There were only 11 deaths that occurred during construction. This extremely low number was because the engineer had already designed and had erected a net. 19 workers fell into the net on separate occasions and were saved. Another worker who successfully fell into the net died because he wouldn’t wait until rescue help arrived and fell out of the net trying to do it himself. The other 10 deaths happened at the same time when scaffolding carrying 13 workers fell into the net. One of the workers was able to climb out of the net and grasp a girder before the net failed. Two others survived the fall.
But a valid point can still be made … prior to this project, safety was not considered to be a part of construction and fatalities were actually projected as a cost and schedule complication. This is the first major project where hard hats and the netting was installed to ensure worker safety. What had been previously been considered unnecessary expense and a schedule drain actually helped them finish ahead of schedule and under budget.
So, make your excellent point, but please use proper facts. You should always check before you just throw out statements blindly. It makes it difficult on some of us when facing detractors who accuse Christians of changing/bending/ignoring facts to suit our purpose.
Good Luck
